It All Started with An Idea…
One of the nation's first charter vacation companies, Apple Vacations was founded in 1969. Our founders saw an opportunity to bring passengers to exotic locations at a fraction of the cost that the big airlines were charging. At that time, international travel was considered an expensive luxury. Apple Vacations believed that by providing quality vacations at affordable prices, we would fill an unmet need in the travel industry. To achieve our lowest prices, we assumed the risk, chartered aircraft and guaranteed hotels that we could fill their rooms, Apple Vacations began building the nation's largest provider of vacations to Mexico, Caribbean and Hawaii. In the late 1970s, the company became one of the first to introduce the concept of "all-inclusive vacations" to the U.S. market. We were also one of the first to introduce three and four night vacations, in response to people's desire for shorter, more frequent vacations.
In 1997, just after celebrating our one-millionth passenger arrival in Cancun, Apple Vacations saw an opportunity in a relatively young vacation destination known as Punta Cana. With our support and guidance on what the U.S. vacationer wanted, Punta Cana is now one of the hottest vacation spots in the Caribbean. In 2006, we brought passenger one million to Punta Cana, more than any other North American travel company.
